How to Apply
Step One - Determine Eligibility Requirements
- Successful Graduate of a Youth Challenge Program
- 16.5-20 Years of age
- High school graduate, or on track to earn a high school equivalency diploma (HiSET or GED) by the end of the program
- U.S. Citizen or Lawful permanent resident
- Not under indictment, or ever convicted of a felony (or any crime that would be considered a felony if perpetrated by an adult), and not currently on parole or probation for other than juvenile status offenses or misdemeanor
- Free of illegal drug use
- Physically and mentally capable of completing the program
Step Two - Apply
- Eligible candidates can apply using multiple methods:
- Fill out the Online Application
- Fill out the NMJCA Application Packet
- If an Applicant completes the Online Application, the Recruiter send the remaining required documents
- If an Applicant completes the NMJCA Application Packet, they can send it to candelaria.nunez@dma.nm.gov
- Our Recruiter will reach out to all Candidates upon receipt of their completed application to plan and discuss future tasks
Step Three - Submit Documents
- Our Recruiter will provide a list of all required documents for application review
- Candidates, Parents, and Guardians are encouraged to submit all required documents in a timely manner
Step Four - Interview
- Candidates will be scheduled for an interview, either in-person or virtually
- Interviews are a mandatory requirement for application review
Step Five - Review Board
- All Academy Departments will review the information included in the Candidate’s application packet and provide their recommendation.
- Department Heads will discuss each Candidate and make a selection determination.
Step Six - Orientation
- Candidates, Parents, and Guardians will be scheduled to attend a Program Orientation, either at our facility or virtually.
- Orientations are required for attendance in the New Mexico Job ChalleNGe Academy.
