How to Apply

Step One - Determine Eligibility Requirements

  • Successful Graduate of a Youth Challenge Program
  • 16.5-20 Years of age
  • High school graduate, or on track to earn a high school equivalency diploma (HiSET or GED) by the end of the program
  • U.S. Citizen or Lawful permanent resident
  • Not under indictment, or ever convicted of a felony (or any crime that would be considered a felony if perpetrated by an adult), and not currently on parole or probation for other than juvenile status offenses or misdemeanor
  • Free of illegal drug use
  • Physically and mentally capable of completing the program

Step Two - Apply

  • Eligible candidates can apply using multiple methods:
    • Fill out the Online Application
    • Fill out the NMJCA Application Packet
  • If an Applicant completes the Online Application, the Recruiter send the remaining required documents
  • If an Applicant completes the NMJCA Application Packet, they can send it to candelaria.nunez@dma.nm.gov
  • Our Recruiter will reach out to all Candidates upon receipt of their completed application to plan and discuss future tasks

Step Three - Submit Documents

  • Our Recruiter will provide a list of all required documents for application review
  • Candidates, Parents, and Guardians are encouraged to submit all required documents in a timely manner

Step Four - Interview

  • Candidates will be scheduled for an interview, either in-person or virtually
  • Interviews are a mandatory requirement for application review

Step Five - Review Board

  • All Academy Departments will review the information included in the Candidate’s application packet and provide their recommendation.
  • Department Heads will discuss each Candidate and make a selection determination.

Step Six - Orientation

  • Candidates, Parents, and Guardians will be scheduled to attend a Program Orientation, either at our facility or virtually.
  • Orientations are required for attendance in the New Mexico Job ChalleNGe Academy.
